Development policy priority areas

Whether or not you will be eligible for financial assistance under the Returning Experts Programme primarily depends on the significance of your new position in terms of development policy. A job is classified as potentially suitable for support when it lies in a priority area of bilateral development cooperation. Positions that contribute to achieving the Millennium Development Goals or the ‘big five’ (basic education, combating HIV/AIDS, renewable energy, energy efficiency, tropical forest protection), or that are in a sector that is particularly affected by brain drain in a given country may also qualify for assistance. If you choose to accept a position outside these categories that is nevertheless particularly important in terms of development policy, we will be glad to review the possibility of support. If this applies to you, please contact us.
